Say what you will about him, but New York City Mayor Eric Adams is consistently straying from the Democratic hivemind party line on the migrant crisis.
In a press conference yesterday, Adams responded to a reporter’s question about subway crime by forecasting that migrants would eventually turn to crime.
Reporter: “You have these hard-fought gains on crime that you outlined at the top. How sustainable do you think they are amidst the background of this continued onslaught of migrants[…]?”
Mayor Adams: “[…] When I talk about the devastating impact of the migrant and asylum seekers, people only think about the volume of people that are coming in. There are byproducts to this: cutting services, like we had to postpone the police class; looking at some of the budgetary cuts; having a body of people, many young, who can’t work.
You don’t even need an imagination to figure out that if you have someone for four, five months and say you cannot work, you cannot feed your family […] what happens? […] Lack of opportunities, you know, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, as they say…”
Adams is, of course, completely correct. It speaks to a kind of common sense that is largely absent in the New York progressive’s mind: policies have long-term consequences that take months and years to manifest.
But, progressive operators like Daniel Altschuler, political director for immigrant nonprofit Make the Road New York (MRNY), claim there’s “zero evidence” of this, that it’s just “more xenophobic fear-mongering” from the mayor.
I’m not going to bother countering this. A simple Google search proves him wrong. The point is that the progressive’s main tactic is deny, name-call, and sling mud. They cannot argue in good faith because their positions are always weak, resting on a house of cards.
Nonprofits like Make the Road have been engaged in this kind of magical thinking for years now, well before the migrant crisis. They wield enormous power in the NYC political landscape and have a parasitic relationship with socialist elected officials like Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
And, their latest tax return shows deep pockets, with net assets totaling $40.6 million.
The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), which Make the Road lists as its sister organization, received $80 million in 2017 to fund other, smaller progressive groups to “resist” Trump. In 2018, the CPD’s executive director, Andrew Friedman, told the Washington Post that the group receives more than $1 million from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. Friedman joined CPD after “15 years building Make the Road…” which he co-founded. In a 2000 interview, Friedman told City Limits that both his parents were members of the American Communist Party. This runs deep, y’all.
Funny enough, AOC’s fake arrest publicity stunt last year was coordinated in tandem with the CPD.
A CPD blog post from 2015 shows the group, “along with our core partner Make the Road New York,” calling to advocate expanding local voting rights to include “non-citizen New Yorkers.” A law to do just that passed in 2021, but was stopped by the State Supreme Court.
Through their political action counterpart, Make the Road Action, they engage in electoral politics by endorsing self-admitted socialists like state assembly-hopeful Claire Valdez, as well as the reelection of fire-alarm puller Congressman Jamaal Bowman.
So, what we’re seeing unravel in New York is not an accident. It’s part of a deliberate, extremely well-funded coordinated effort that undermines native New Yorkers at the expense of illegal “migrants.”
MRNY and CPD are just a couple of the key players pulling the strings behind the scenes, and that’s just for immigration. There is a sprawling progressive network of similarly entangled dark money political groups aggressively fighting to enact their agenda in NYC.
Our side is sorely lacking in this kind of mobilization, institutional power, and funding. But, by enhancing our awareness of the tactics and strategies our opposition uses, we can begin to formulate a robust and intelligent resistance.
“New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signs controversial legislation to create slavery reparations commission” (CBS New York)
![](https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F40255d47-c632-4cf3-bb80-f78dac75d73a_1024x682.jpeg)
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed historic racial justice legislation on Tuesday, creating a committee to consider reparations for slavery.
The new law authorizes the creation of a community commission that will study the history of slavery in New York state and what reparations could look like.
"You can see the unreckoned-with impacts of slavery in things such as Black poverty, Black maternal mortality," said Nicole Carty, executive director of the group Get Free. […]
New York is the second state in the country to study reparations after California.
As astute commenter LostinLaGuardia wrote under the Gothamist’s piece, “Establishment democrats are losing control of these more extreme politicians and latch on to policies like reparations in a disingenuous attempt to try to stem the hemorrhage of spurned minority voters moving to independent and republican platforms.”
“Reparations are by default a ‘zero-sum" proposition. You are taking resources from someone else and giving them to a distinct group with no compensation for those being excluded from the payments.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
“Accused Grand Central stabber shouldn’t have been out after threatening Bronx man two weeks before slicing teen tourists” (NY Post)
![](https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fd7cba16c-4631-4b88-ba41-3379bd0cf051_1545x861.png)
The deranged attacker who allegedly stabbed two teenage tourists at Grand Central Terminal never should have been let out after he threatened a man in the Bronx just last month, the victim in that case said Tuesday.
Yussif Abdullahi, 46, was outraged after learning that Steven Hutcherson, 36, had been cut loose by a Bronx judge — just two weeks before he allegedly randomly knifed a 14-year-old girl and her 16-year-old sister as they enjoyed a Christmas Day meal with their family at a restaurant in the Grand Central concourse.
“They shouldn’t have let him out [of jail]. I don’t believe it,” he told The Post. […]
Hutcherson — a homeless man with a lengthy rap sheet and history of mental illness — then suddenly turned his ire on Abdullahi, yelling: “Why are you working for white people? I’m going to kill this man!”
“I’m gonna shoot you. I don’t care what kind of green card the government gave you,” Hutcherson said, according to the criminal complaint against him. “Open your mouth and say something. I will shoot you right now.”
Think about how hard it is to change your own worst qualities as a well-adjusted, normal person. Do you think it’s harder or easier for the mentally ill and/or low-impulse-control criminally inclined individuals? The answer is obvious, but the progressive criminal justice system gives seemingly infinite chances to this group, no matter their criminal offenses.
“Trans actor Tommy Dorfman harasses Delta Airlines employee over ‘misgendering’” (Post Millennial)
A Delta ticket agent in the New York area went viral on Tuesday after refusing to put up with accusations that he'd intentionally misgendered a male passenger. It’s been revealed that the male voice belongs to trans actor Tommy Dorfman, who harassed the Delta Airlines employee over ‘misgendering’ him. […]
"It wasn't intentional," the gate agent tells Dorfman, "but if you want to take it personal, that's also—"
"You said he and then you said she," the trans Dorfman replies.
"You're being condescending," the gate agent tells Dorfman, "and if you want to continue, I'll have Port Authority escort you out the building right this moment if you want to play that game with me. Which if you'd like to continue three days before Christmas, I really don't mind." […]
Dorfman previously went viral for a TikTok video teaching his young audience how to inject themselves with estrogen.
Props to the ticketing agent. Even more props if he stands up after Delta likely comes down on him for not being an “ally.” We will only be free from the Alphabet Mafia when even “normal people” feel empowered enough to exert free will and independent thought.
